Hidden house

location:

Nosara, Guanacaste

year:

2025

use: residential

Located in the natural setting of Nosara, Costa Rica, Hidden House is conceived as a contemporary residence integrated into the mountains, seeking to reinterpret the tropical lifestyle through clean architecture connected to the landscape.

The project is structured on three distinct levels: the lower and upper levels house the private areas, including five bedrooms designed to provide comfort and privacy amidst a natural setting; while the middle level houses the social areas, functioning as an open and flexible space where the architecture dissolves to give way to the landscape.

The design emphasizes the use of right angles, clean lines, and precise geometric compositions. The materials—concrete, natural wood, and black steel—not only respond to the climate and context, but also establish a sober and warm aesthetic language, capable of framing and amplifying the experience of the place.

Inside, various ceramics are used to introduce color and create focal points that enrich the space without disrupting the overall harmony of the design. The furniture was carefully selected to maintain visual and material coherence, generating a balanced and contemporary atmosphere. Furthermore, the strategic use of potted plants in interior areas reinforces the connection with nature, extending the tropical experience beyond the exterior.

The house opens up to the surroundings through large openings, terraces, lounge areas, green spaces, and a BBQ area, offering its inhabitants a fluid connection between interior and exterior, in harmony with the topography and surrounding vegetation.

The project incorporates sustainable strategies such as solar energy systems, rainwater collection and reuse, and a water purification system for both domestic and pool use, eliminating the need for chemicals. These technological solutions reinforce the design’s commitment to responsible architecture adapted to its context.

Hidden House not only responds to the environmental conditions of the tropics, but also proposes a new way of inhabiting them: a contemporary, efficient architecture in harmony with the landscape.
